Weston Cereal and Multi-Grain Mill ~ Product Review

I’ve been, not so subtely, dropping the hints to my husband that I want a mill for grinding flour. Well, for my birthday he got me the Weston Cereal and Multi-Grain Mill. I was extatic. I’d been wanting to grind my own flour for a long time and I was finally going to be able to do it!

When I pulled it out of the box, there weren’t any instructions, but I figured it’s pretty straight forward so I began to put it together. To my surprise, it didn’t fit! The parts wouldn’t go together. I immediately Weston Supply Company. They were good about getting back to me right away and sent out a new one.

When the replacement product arrived, I could get this one put together, and was able to put it to work. I had hoped to be able to grind wheat berries into flour. I did get some coarsely ground flour, but I mostly got what would better be described as meal. I was able to get enough of the coarse ground flour to bake a loaf of bread. It turned out quite…hearty!

I think this product would be better suited to grinding corn into meal, or perhaps for someone who want to grind hops for making homemade beer. It will work for flour, if you hasve o other way to make, but it’s not the most efficiant.

All in all, I think I am still in the market for a flour mill!
